American Ceremony
DH & the BP walked down the aisle to a classical guitar instrumental version of In My Life
I walked in to Romance D'Amour. It was the song DH played for me on our 1st anniversary
Ceremony Decor- pillars & chairs
The pillars & arrangements on top were one of many DIY projects :) We also tied small bouquets of red & black magic roses to every other aisle chair.
We also sprinkled red rose petals down the aisle. Unfortunately my photographer didn't get these detail shots, but some of our guests did!

Our pastor had a very funny, romantic, lighthearted ceremony. It was perfect
The ceremony was very normal. We added two things to our ceremony: my bridesmaid read Thomas a Kempis's poem "On Love" and in true African American culture, we jumped the broom.
We did it!!!
Indian Ceremony
In traditional Gujurati custom, my maternal uncle escorted me down the aisle. The song playing was Latika's Theme
Our Mandap
Our photographer didn't get any ceremony area detail shots, but this is our DIY mandap that we made for the Indian ceremony
Our Indian priest was very good. He explained what he was saying in Sanskrit in English so everyone knew what was happening.
During the ceremony there are a lot of traditional rituals. The first pic is of us placing a garland over each other's necks. This symbolized our acceptance of each other. The next pic is of our 7 steps/vows that we said to each other.
In Indian culture, they do not exchange wedding rings. Instead, the groom places a necklace called a Mangala Sutra around the bride's neck.
Then the groom puts sindoor in the part of her hair marking her as a married woman. His married woman.
